The Gunny

The Gunny

Gunnery Sgt. A.J. Squaredaway

is actually a retired Marine SgtMaj who was decorated during WW-2 in the Pacific, and in the Korean War. We who had the honor of serving with him in Korea will forever address him as ”Gunny”! He was the epitome of what a line company Gunnery Sergeant is, and is alive and well in Hendersonville, N.C. We at Leatherneck Square are proud to have William Parks as our “Poster Marine”, as he continues to be Gunny Sgt. A. J. Squaredaway, especially when in his Leatherneck Square gear! The Gunny enjoys the “Flashbacks” he has of  The Old Corps when he wears his uniform of the day from L.S.—You will too, and be sure and report them to The Gunny, for every Marine knows, it’s not wise to dissappoint a Marine Gunnery Sgt!!–Semper Fi. From all the Marines at Leatherneck Square!  And by the way –the photo of Sgt. Maj. Parks was taken around 1960!  [we had to airbrush his chevrons to "bust" him to Gunny!]
